The new Android 6.0 Marshmallow is set to officially launch on Oct. 5, 2015. It will debut on the LG Nexus 5X and Huawei Nexus 6P, and eventually roll out on other Android devices. Motorola was the first manufacturer to announce that the Android M will become available on several of its devices in the coming weeks.

Times of India reported that some of the Motorola devices confirmed to receive the OS update include the Moto X Pure Edition (2015), Moto X Pure Edition (2014), Moto X Style, Moto X Play, Moto X (Gen 2), Moto G (Gen2), Moto G (Gen 2) LTE, Moto G (Gen 3), Moto Turbo, Moto MAXX and DROID Turbo. The Nexus 6 that was made by Motorola will also receive the update early in October 2015. Some of the devices that will not be updating to Android 6.0 Marshmallow include the first-generation Moto X and Moto G, and the second-generation Moto E.

Motorola has not yet released the exact dates when the OS update will arrive on the specific devices. The company stated that the schedule details will be presented in the coming weeks.

Based on the same Times of India report, Motorola also announced that some Moto features will be replaced by similar ones that come with Android 6.0 M, such as Moto Assist, the Google Chrome extension in Motorola Connect and Motorola Migrate.

International Business Times revealed the key features that users can expect from the new Android M. The update will feature Android Pay, which is Google's payment system that support several retail stores. Google Doze will automatically minimize multiple background processes to save more battery life when smartphones are idle for a while. Google Now on Tap provides more information about keywords by long-pressing the home button. The fingerprint scanning technology will improve phone security as well as boost Android Pay. Direct Share lets users share photos and other content with their favorite contacts immediately. The Android Marshmallow will also provide simplified volume controls. Users can also expect a smoother and more stable user interface and various bug fixes.

Motorola revealed that they made changes to Moto Enhancements to guarantee that they will be complementing Android, and not competing with it. Motorola Migrate will be taken out since Android M enhances back up user data support. Moto Assist will be replaced by new similar features brought by the Android 6.0 Marshmallow. Users will benefit by having more space in their device too.
