Despite rumors of being replaced, Daniel Craig will actually be starring in his fifth James Bond movie in the future. The actor shared some insights on his plans after “Spectre”, which launches in October 2015.

The 47-year-old actor confirmed to The Daily Mail that he already signed to star in his fifth James Bond film. However, he apparently would not be fighting for the role if it is necessary for him to be substituted by a younger actor.

“It’s getting harder. But such is life. I’ll keep going as long as I’m physically able. I’m contracted for one more, but I’m not going to make predictions.”

Craig replaced Pierce Brosnan and debuted as James Bond in “Casino Royale” in 2006, when he was only 38 years old. Fans admired Craig for his more realistic representation of the famous spy. He delivered a grittier and rawer version of the British spy. After the first film, “Quantum of Solace” launched in 2008. In 2012, “Skyfall” was released, which received mostly positive reviews from critics. Screen Rant wrote that the Bond film franchise is one of the longest running in history. In 53 years, 23 movies have been released, having grossed a total of $11.6 billion. Craig is the sixth actor to take on the lead role.

He also told The Daily Mail that if playing James Bond is the last thing that he would do in his career, then he would be fine with it. He said that he is actually proud of the role. After “Casino Royale”, he was initially worried about how people would respond and whether he played a character who is completely opposite of the superspy. Over time, he said that he became more comfortable with his portrayal.

If Craig would be replaced in the future, fans might be opting for the same gritty and more authentic character that he presented in the past decade. A number of potential names have surfaced, such as Damian Lewis, Idris Elba and Michael Fassbender, among others, based on a report by Esquire. Previously, Lewis was said to be the potential top pick. Considering how James Bond movies are released two to four years apart, possible replacements will have to wait longer to play the iconic spy.

“Spectre”, the 24th movie in the Bond franchise, is set to release in the United Kingdom on Oct. 26, 2015. It will launch in the United States on Nov. 6, 2015.
