As the alleged release date of Android M 6.0 draws nearer, reportedly in October, Lollipop 5.1.1 has still to reach a good number of handsets.

Recently, it's been reported that the 5.1.1 mobile OS version of Android may be uploaded to some Samsung devices, such as the Galaxy S4, S5, and Note 5.

According to Neurogadget, an updated firmware version of 5.1.1 has recently been released for the S4.

"The new OS is based on CyanogenMod ROM and it comes with new Settings, new animations and many other features such as: status bar settings, wakelock blocker, gesture anywhere, custom battery status style, the ability to enable/disable the recent floating action button, enhanced performance and many more," the site said. "Keep in mind that the new Radium Android 5.1.1 Lollipop must be installed on the Galaxy S4 (GT-I9505) device or else it will not work. To check the device model, go to Settings->About Phone->Model Number."

Further, it's been said that for the custom Rom to work, the device must be rooted and has 70-80% battery power.

Further, CyanogenMod has also released supports for Galaxy S5 and S5 Duos, paving the way for a 5.1.1 roll out. Venture Capital Post said that the device to be upgraded should be rooted and have at least 70% battery power before downloading the Lollipop update, once available.

According to Android Pit, you can get the custom ROMs from XDA Developers.

Meanwhile, Galaxy Note 5 was recently released already equipped with Android Lollipop 5.1.1, so there's no need to worry about this device. Further, there's been talk that the phablet will indeed be among the early recipients of the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update once the upcoming OS version is released either next week or next month.

On the other hand, Lollipop 5.1.1 has been recently rolled out to the Galaxy S5 mini in the United States. Although it is not certain when owners of the said device in other parts of the world will get the updates, GSM Arena said that 5.1.1 will arrive in S5 mini units outside of the US "very soon."

Samsung has not yet confirmed about the Lollipop update rollouts to other devices. It also has not spoken about specific dates for the Android M rollouts. However, it's been speculated that Marshmallow might be released in November this year.

"The new Android OS version will come with Deep Linking and a native fingerprint reader support on Samsung's Galaxy S5, Galaxy S6, Galaxy Note 4 and Galaxy Note 5. Deep Linking will allow your device to know what applications to use in order to open a certain type of link," Neurogadget said in another piece. "Android 6.0 Marshmallow will come with an improved battery feature called 'Doze mode,' which will limit your applications to sync or use network access. However, notifications will still be permitted if a 'high priority' Google Cloud Message is received."
