Although the LG G4 model has reportedly been doing well because of its high-end specifications and powerful features, fans are already looking forward to its successor, the LG G5. Here are some details on the upcoming flagship smartphone from the Korean company.

Android Pit reported that the LG G5 will most likely be released in the spring of 2016. LGG5D.com cited how previous the models in the G series were also released in the summer. The LG G4 was released in June 2015; so if the LG G5 would launch sometime in 2015, there might be no huge upgrades from its predecessor.

The smartphone might retail higher compared to the LG G4, which averages $599. In terms of design, LG might finally stop using plastic on its high-end models. The leather was acceptable for some users, although many might still prefer a full-metal construction. The LG G5 is also rumored to feature a curved screen. The battery might be removable, similar to the previous models. The main button on the back of the LG G4 might still be present on the G5, since many users find it very functional.

As for the features, the LG G5 is expected to include a fingerprint scanner and an iris scanner, after working with Irience, a biometrics company. The smartphone may also feature a camera upgrade. It is rumored that the LG G5 may have the same or better camera as the G4, which has a 16-megapixel rear camera with an f/1.8 aperture, Optical Image Stabilization 2.0 and laser autofocus.

Tech Times revealed that the LG G5 may be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor, not the 820. It may have 4GB of RAM. The display may be 5.8 inches with QHD 2K resolution with 2560 x 1440 ppi. LGG5D.com wrote that the device might run on an octa-core processor and have 6GB of RAM.

LG CEO Cho Juno confirmed that they will launch a flagship smartphone in the fourth quarter of 2015. However, said that people should lower their expectations of a super premium device. This can mean that the LG G5 might be released earlier than expected or LG might feature another flagship model. However, the less than super premium handset might mean that an LG G5 released late in 2015 might have a plastic construction, a Snapdragon 810 processor and the same rear camera as the G4.

More news and updates on the LG G5 are expected in the following weeks.
