The production of "Ghostbusters 3" is going smoothly in time for its July 22, 2016 release date.

Amidst the initial up-roar about the film having an all-female lead, the cast and crew remained unperturbed and the production has gone on, business as usual.

According to The Enterprise, the set for "Ghostbusters 3" at Southfield was already in its final touches on Friday.

The hangar and runway of the former South Weymouth Naval Air Station was being designed to appear like Times Square in New York City, the report said.

Once the shooting begins, it is expected to last for a month.

A separate report from The Enterprise revealed that significant parts of "Ghostbusters 3" were also being filmed in an olden manor, known locally as the Ames Mansion, at Easton's Borderland statepark. The film began shooting there Tuesday and ended on Thursday.

Charlie Harrington, the production's location manager, said the Ames Mansion is "definitely a major location in the movie."

Harrington added that the "Ghostbusters get a call that there might be a ghost there."

Harrington explained to The Enterprise that the film originally set in New York City, hence only interiors of the old manor could be seen in the film.

Aside from having an all-female lead - Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wigg, Leslie Jones, Kate McKinnon -  "Ghostbusters 3" also has 50 female crew working behind the scenes.

McCarthy posted a picture of them altogether in what USA Today described as an "empowering" photo that could shutdown the film's haters.

When the all female lead stars were announced the social media broke loose. In an interview with The Variety in March, director Paul Feig said he read a comment that went as far as thanking him for "ruining my childhood."

The director clsimed that criticisms of the fans of the original "Ghostbusters" are "some of the most vile, misogynistic" comments he has seen in his life.

Months after the uproar, the film started shooting and exciting developments unfolded. Early this month The Hollywood Reporter confirmed that after slight hesitation, Bill Murray, who played Dr. Peter Venkman in 1984 and 1989, had already agreed for an appearance in the third installment.

Another alum, Dan Aykyord,  was also confirmed to have agreed on a cameo role.

Indie Revolver reported that he will cameo as a cab driver and will say his iconic line: "I ain't afraid of no ghosts."

Diretor Feig had also teased photos of how the iconic Ecto-1 will look like. He had also posted a photo showing the look of the new "Ghostbusters" uniform and the new Proton Pack design.

According to The Boston Herald, the plot of the "Ghostbusters 3" will revolve around Wiig and McCarthy who write a book about ghosts. Flash forward to the present, Wiig is suffering ridicule as a teacher in Columbia U when this book resurfaces.

Wiig decides to reunite with McCarthy and the others. The gang get their "sweet revenge" when they save Manhattan from ghosts invasion.
