The Chicago Bulls superstar faces another acid test, this time out of the hardwood.

Rose was accused along with two of his friends for allegedly drugging and gang raping his former girlfriend back in August 2013 at the female complainant's apartment.

According to TMZ Sports, which broke the news last Wednesday, the complainant, whose identity has been kept under wraps, and Rose dated from 2011 to 2013.

As per the report from TMZ, the names of the two friends in the complaint are Ryan Allen and Randall Hampton, who is also Rose's personal manager.

According to 'Jane Doe', she was invited by Rose at his Beverly Hills House where they allegedly slipped a drug into the complainant's drink. She managed to escape with a friend but claims that Rose and his friends broke into her apartment and gang raped her while she was incapacitated.

With regards to why she filed the rape charges only now after two years, the female complainant stated that she was ashamed and embarrassed of the ordeal and that she was worried that her family would find out.

Derrick Rose aired his reaction to the rape charges saying that he knows the truth and that he believes he will be proven innocent.

"I am just focusing on staying healthy and getting ready for the season," Rose said to theChicago Tribune. "I am not going to comment other than to say: I know the truth, and I am confident I will be proven innocent."

A spokesman for the former NBA MVP did confirm that the two had a lengthy sexual relationship but says that the allegations were false and that there was no factual basis on the rape claim.

"Two years have passed since Mr. Rose ended the consensual relationship with the plaintiff, and her claims are as meritless now as they were two years ago. We have complete confidence that the case will be dismissed and that Mr. Rose will be vindicated. This lawsuit is outrageous," says Lisa Cohen on behalf of Rose.

The Chicago Bulls management said that they were aware of the development and that they would await all the facts before making any comments or statements.
