An olive branch between two fast food giants may yield a delicious sign of peace.

Burger King is asking for peace between their golden "arch" rival- yes pun intended, McDonald's.

In honor of World Peace Day, the "Home of The Whopper," is calling for the fast food chains to "end the beef."

According to TODAY, Burger King has taken full-page ads in the New York Times and Chicago Tribune to wave a white flag at McDonald's. The International Day of Peace is on Sept. 21. This year's theme is "Partnerships for Peace - Dignity for All."

Burger King has written an open letter to McDonald's expressing their interest to put the past behind them.

"We come in peace. In fact, we come in honor of peace. We know we've had our petty differences, but how abut we call a ceasefire on these so-called 'burger wars?'"

BK also takes it one step further, asking the Ronald McDonald lead restaurant to collaborate and give patrons a tasty fusion of both their staple burgers.

"Peace One Day is a non-profit organization campaigning to make Peace Day September 21st an annual day of global unity. They have a powerful rallying 'who will you make pece with?' which has inspired us to lead by example and extend an olive branch.... We'd like to propose a one-off collaboration between Burger King and McDonald's to create something special - something that gets the world talking about Peace Day. The McWhopper."

Burger King has designed an entire site for McDonald's and interested fans to read up on their peace proposal as well as watch a 1-and-ahalf minute video on how thy plan to rollout the entire day. Uniforms, marketing, and even the location has already been decided.  

But before you get excited, there is one thing that stands in the way. McDonald's. Their CEO, Steve Easterbrook, posted a Facebook message to Burger King in regards to their tasty proposal.

"Dear Burger King, Inspiration for a good cause... great idea.

We love the intention but think our two brands could do something bigger to make a difference. We commit to raise awareness worldwide, perhaps you'll join us in a meaningful global effort?

And every day, let's acknowledge that between us there is simply a friendly business competition and certainly not the unequaled circumstances of the real pain and suffering of war. We'll be in touch... P.S. A simple phone call will do next time."

What could be better than a McWhopper? Looks like burger connoisseurs will have to wait and see.
