Google has been testing YouTube Gaming in the past few months after it made the official announcement in June 2015. As promised, the program will officially launch in the summer of 2015.

ArsTechnica reported that YouTube Gaming will become available on August 26, 2015. It will be accessible in all regions with access to the video streaming site. It will be available worldwide, although the apps will initially be available in the United States and United Kingdom. The Android app will go live on Wednesday, but users have to be in the beta version first. The beta version of the live streaming tools is also available on the site.

The service will be the first major competitor to Twitch, a game streaming service owned by Amazon. Google tried to purchase Twitch in 2014, but a deal did not push through so Amazon bought the service instead for almost $1 billion.

Game Spot wrote that YouTube Gaming will focus exclusively on gaming content. It has over 25,000 dedicated game pages and will support both videos and live streaming. Users can add specific games to their collection to stay updated with new content. Users may also subscribe to certain channels or acquire notifications when a live-stream begins. YouTube Gaming will automatically draw gaming-related content to make user searches more relevant.

YouTube described YouTube Gaming as the main destination for anything related to gaming. YouTube Gaming serves as a collection point for all kinds of gaming content on the video streaming site. The service also automatically categorizes gaming content and then arranges it according to the content of video and game. Users will be able to find the most popular content for their favorite games.

The beta version will also launch on August 26. There is a new dashboard that will make streaming more casual than scheduled, allowing users to view anytime and anywhere. Streaming on YouTube Gaming will be done on HTML 5. Streamers can further allow a DVR Mode that will buffer the final four hours of a stream and let them rewind as necessary.

YouTube Gaming will be available on both Android and OS. Frank Petterson, Engineering Manager of the project said that YouTube Gaming is only the beginning. More game-focused projects from Google are expected to surface soon, especially after it was discovered that video games were among the most popular content on YouTube.

More news and details about YouTube Gaming are expected in the coming weeks.
