Apple is offering to fix and replace faulty iPhone 6 Plus cameras for free. Apple has a list of the specific units that can be repaired without any extra cost.

Apple stated that a small percentage of iPhone 6 Plus units have a faulty component, which resulted to blurry photos. CNet reported that the company will replace the iSight camera on the back of the devices free of charge.

Most of the faulty devices were sold from September 2014 to January 2015. Apple presented a tool on its website that allows users to provide the serial number of their phone to determine if it is eligible for free repair. The page will also provide information regarding convenient drop-off places. Telegraph wrote that people can check their serial number by going to Settings > General >About on their iPhone 6 Plus. The serial number will be presented when they scroll down. They can tap and hold to copy the number. Users can enter the serial number on the support page to determine if it is eligible for free replacement. Users are also advised to back up their device before dropping it off for fixing. Customers can also bring their troubled device to an authorized service provider or Apple store.

The iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus were specifically preferred by people because of their focus on photography. The “Shot on iPhone 6” campaign in 2014 helped sell more of the units in the past two quarters, constituting two-thirds of the company’s sales. John Gruber, an Apple blogger, stated that the iPhone 6s will feature the biggest camera jump ever, with a two-lens system that could rival DSLR cameras. It may also be capable of recording 4K video, based on the same Telegraph report.

GSM Arena wrote that the iPhone 6 Plus was announced and released in September 2014. It measures 158.1 x 77.8 x 7.1mm and weighs 172 grams. The device features a fingerprint sensor and Apple Pay. It also has a 5.5-inch screen with 1080 x 1920 pixels. The device runs on the iOS 8 out of the box, upgradable to iOS 8.4 and features the Apple A8 processor. It has a dual-core 1.4 GHz Cyclone (ARM v8-based) CPU and PowerV GX6450 quad-core GPU. The tablet has an 8-megapixel rear camera with 3260 x 2448 pixels, optical image stabilization, phase detection autofocus and dual-LED flash. The secondary camera has 1.2 megapixels, face detection, HDR and FaceTime over Wi-Fi or Cellular.

More news and updates regarding the iPhone 6 Plus camera repair are expected soon.
