There are rumors circulating that the Sony Xperia Z5 and Sony Xperia Z5 Compact smartphone models will be unveiled at the IFA 2015. Here are some updates about these two handsets.

Sony is reportedly planning to launch its next flagship device, the Xperia Z5, in September at IFA 2015. Pocket-Lint revealed that new photos of the Xperia Z5 Compact surfaced recently on the Dutch website Tech Tastic, claiming that the images were for promotional purposes. The device in the pictures appeared much like the Xperia Z4 Compact. The LED flash featured the OmniBalance design in a new position. The side volume rocker and another button were also shown at the bottom edge of the device. A fingerprint scanner seemed to have replaced the round power button. WCCFtech also wrote that based on the images, there is a headphone jack at the top of the device, but no Type-C connectivity.

There are speculations that the Sony Xperia Z5 Compact will have a 4.6 or 4.7-inch screen and a 1280 x 720 resolution, making it highly convenient for people with small hands. The handset may be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor and have 3GB of RAM. There may also be a new camera sensor. Some users presume that the new device may have a 20.7-megapixel rear camera and an 8-megapixel front shooter.

Trusted Reviews wrote that the Sony Xperia Z5 Compact will most likely have a display measuring 4.6 inches. The Z5 may feature a 5.2-inch display. The Z5 may have a 1920 x 1080 pixel screen resolution. Sony is rumored to use the Omnibalance design method on both the Z5 and Z5 Compact. This means that the handsets may have a flat rectangular body and a glassy or matte rear, front speakers and reinforced corners. One of the phones will have a 6.9mm thickness. The Z5 is also expected to have the same 20.7-megapixel rear camera and 5.1-megapixel front shooter. The cameras may also feature autofocus, an LED flash, HDR and ISO 12800.

The Z5 may also include a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor, to take care of the previous issues that surfaced on the Snapdragon 810. Using the 820 Soc might fix overheating problems that the Z3+ suffered from. However, including the Snapdragon 820 may mean a delay in the launch.

More features and updates are expected in the coming weeks before IFA 2015. Sony is also said to introduce the Sony Xperia Z5+ among other new devices at the September event.
