After being shunned by Floyd Mayweather, Jr. for a possible September fight, British boxing champion Amir Khan plans to fight at least once before the year closes.

Khan is eyeing a possible fight either in November or December though there is no word yet on who the British southpaw could end up fighting.

Filipino boxer Manny Pacquiao is on Khan’s list but the thing is that the PacMan is not expected to be back in action until 2016.

So with Pacquiao out, it remains to be seen who Khan would be facing though the Briton intends to sit down with adviser/manager Al Haymon in the coming weeks to possibly come out with details of his next fight.

Khan admitted that he had high hopes of facing Mayweather Jr., a reason why his camp probably didn’t look at alternative fighters in case he would be shunned. Khan was the leading favourite to face off against Mayweather until the undefeated American boxer opted to face Andre Berto this coming September 12, 2015 at the MGM Grand Garden in Las Vegas.

The Mayweather would later on explain the reason why Khan was ruled out. Khan’s continuous criticism on the American boxer apparently did him in despite the fact that he has been repeatedly told to stay mum per the LA Times.

Regardless, Khan seems to be moving on from that disappointing episode but the real issue right now is who to fight?

Aside from Pacquiao, other fighters who want to take a crack at Khan include Kell Brook and Keith Thurman. The thing is that the two fighters seem to have gone different paths.

According to Daily Mail, Brook is reportedly eyeing Timothy Bradley Jr. while Boxing News is saying that Keith Thurman could be lined up to fight Shawn Porter. Both fighters have been linked to Khan before but it will be recalled that he prefers not to fight a countryman.

With a dwindling list of possible opponents, who could Khan end up with?

It is likely that Khan could be line up to headline a Premier Boxing Championship card though it remains to be seen who he will be paired up with. From the looks of it, Khan is likely to get a light opponent with all the big names tied up with other tiffs.

All that should however be cleared up in the coming weeks when Khan and Haymon sit down to check their options. As Khan puts it: “At the moment, I’m keeping my options open” via Boxing News.
