A bear trying to gain entrance to an Idaho man's condo was denied by an unlikely opponent, the cat door.

Doug Harder, a resident of Sandpoint, Idaho took pictures of the young bear as it was trapped in the cat door while trying to get into Harder's condo. According to KTL 5, the bear proceeded several times to attempt entrance to the residency with no success. After several failed attempts, the bear left.

Harder believes that this isn't the first time the young bear had tried to burglarize his residence. Just a few days before the incident, the Idaho native had just come back from vacation when he found that his house was ransacked. Several items of food were eaten like chocolates and baking mixtures. Meanwhile, bear droppings had been found on his living room carpet.

It seems that Harder's condo unit is popular amongst bears. KREM reports that a second group of bears attempted to break in via the condo unit's second story balcony last May. How the bears managed to climb up to the second story of a condo, let alone two cubs, is mind boggling.

The bears apparently were eating the birdseed which was put into the birdfeeder earlier that week. The bears came back because some food was left out on the deck after a friendly get together. Harper tried to scare the bears away by making loud sounds but the animals apparently did not pay any attention to him.

Harper said in an interview that the reason the bears are starting to venture into human populated areas is because food has become scarce in the region. Hence, the bears do not have a lot of other choices. Harper thinks that Idaho Wildlife Officials should implement more regulations with regard hunting in the area.

When asked about what he would like to do with the bears, the Idaho man simply states that he does not want any harm to come to the wildlife. Due to the circumstances in the area, he would like to have the animals relocated and that something must be done about their situation. Harper is afraid that if this keeps up, someone else may take actions into their own hands.
