The "Yoko Ono" of One Direction is finally out of Zayn Malik's life.

Perrie Edwards and the former 1D member has ended their engagement and parted ways after three years of togetherness. According to People, the Little Mix member is "devastated" by this turn of event, especially that it was Malik who ended things about two weeks ago.

"She's been putting on a brave face, as Little Mix have had promotion to do, but she's obviously devastated," an insider told the publication. "Perrie's being supported by her bandmates, but she's really in pieces about this."

The songstress appeared to confirm this bit of news when E! News asked her how she was doing in the wake of the breakup.

"I'm good, thank you," was her reply.

Some sources told the entertainment news source that Edwards' friends have been supportive of her and affirmed to her that the split will do her more good.

"Her friends are rallying around her. She's doing fine," a source shared. "They split a few weeks ago. Her close friends have told her she's better off without him."

"He hasn't treated her right for a long time," the mole added.

It can be recalled that the couple had been plagued by cheating rumors, with Malik allegedly flirting with a girl back in August 2012. A clip of the singer hitting on another female reportedly proved his cheating ways.

Then in February 2013, photos of the 22-year-old heartthrob on the bed of a waitress surfaced.

"Australian Courtney Webb took pictures of the singer while he slept, which went public. But Perrie stood by her man," MailOnline recounted.

The couple have since mended things and their relationship appeared to sail through more romantic seas until their engagement in August 2013, when Edwards was seen wearing an engagement ring.

However, in March this year, she was seen without the bling, with claims that it was being cleaned.

"A couple of weeks later, Zayn publicly apologised when he was pictured with his arm around Lauren Richardson during a wild night out in Thailand, saying 'sorry for how it looks' and tweeted about his love for Perrie," the British publication said.

In another bid to save their relationship, Malik quit One Direction a couple of days afterwards.

And now, it appears that the two have wrung out their liaison for whatever it's worth and found that they were better off not together, which apparently caused some of Malik's fans to rejoice at the split.

"Wow. Zayn Malik is really cutting all the dead weight! Sorry not sorry #Perrie," MailOnline noted one Twitter post celebrating the breakup.

"Zayn and Perrie have split?! If this is true I will be thanking the Lord above," another tweet said.

The apparent glee of some fans was due to the fact that Edwards was considered 1D's "Yoko Ono," who "was infamously blamed for breaking up the Beatles" after getting into a relationship with John Lennon.
