Accidents can happen to anyone - anytime, anywhere. And with the recent escalator and elevator accidents on global news, now is the right time to remind ourselves of being extra cautious and vigilant whenever we ride an elevator or take a step unto the escalator.

Warning: The succeeding two video clips may be really disturbing.

CCTV Footage Shows a Man Got His Leg Trapped in the Escalator

August 1, 2015 (Cloud Nine shopping mall in Shanghai) - On that video is an incident where a 35-year old janitor, surnamed Zhang, got trapped in the escalator while he was cleaning the moving equipment. One of the escalator's metal floor panels malfunctioned and got broke, trapping his left lower leg.

Xinhua reports said that the doctor needed to amputate his left calf to prevent his condition from getting worse. However, according to the latest state media report, the man violated certain operation protocol by not shutting the escalator down first before cleaning it.

Mother Got Swallowed by the Escalator after Saving Her Son

July 27, 2015 (Beijing, China) - Prior to the janitor man losing his leg because of the escalator mishap, a 30-year old Chinese mother, Xiang Liujuan, died but was able to save her two-year old little boy. Tragic as it may seem, the CCTV shows how the accident could have been avoided if actions have been prompt and precautionary measures have been put in place.

The mishap transpired in a shopping mall in Jingzhou while Xiang was slowly riding up the escalator with her son in tow. Unfortunately, when she was about to reach the top, taking only a few steps forward unto the platform, it collapsed. In the video, there were three mall employees who were seen standing near the escalator and tried to help the woman and grab the toddler.

These photos have gone VIRAL:

A silent 'protest' some Chinese people have been up to lately... condemning recent escalator accidents.

These are only the two ways how some people in China are riding escalators after the so-called horrible escalator accidents.

A Netizen Asks...

Some netizens even realize that...

It's better to take the stairs instead.

Or perhaps, we can just settle for this:

Would it be safer? Actually, there are no guarantees. So, let us all be more careful.

Keep safe, everyone!
