If you thought the "Batman vs Superman" movie was made to settle the debate over who's stronger, you can't be faulted for thinking that way. It probably is the main reason such a superhero mashup of a film is made. However, judging by the back and forths over who beats whom long before the flick's 2016 release date, it appears the road to "Dawn of Justice" is long and fraught with such speculations.
Recently, the latest to spill out of the rumor mill are reports of the Man of Steel beating the Dark Knight. This bit apparently stemmed from Marvel Comics artist Stan Lee's thoughts on who would win in a Batman-Superman battle.
"Oh, Superman," he told Boston Herald. "He's indestructible, he can do anything. And Batman relies on a few weapons. If this is real, a fight between Superman and Batman, there's no way you'd bet on Batman."
On a more humorous note, Lee said that if it was a certain actor playing Superman in the movie, he'll side with Batman, who is played by Ben Affleck.
"Well, I like Ben Affleck," he revealed further, considering the fact that the actor is from Boston. "If they get Mortimer Snerd to play Superman, maybe Affleck would have a chance."
He also later commented that, personally, it's hard for him to pick which superhero is superior.
"The creator of Batman, Bob Kane, was a good friend of mine, so he'd be unhappy with me saying that," Lee was quoted by ComicBook.com as saying. "But at the same time, Jerry Siegel, one of the creators of Superman, worked for me for a while. So I feel I have divided loyalties."
Surprisingly, Lee could be recalled as previously preferring the Dark Knight in a previous interview with Total Film, as he found him "interesting." Watch the video below to hear him say so.
On an amusing note, the Marvel Comics icon had declared 2 years ago that he wants to do a cameo on the "Batman vs Superman" film. Lee has been known to make cameos in virtually all Marvel films.
"If I were the head of DC, I would contact me and say, 'How about doing a cameo in the next Superman movie?' Can you imagine? Nobody would believe it. Everybody would go see it," he was noted by The Hollywood Reporter as saying.
Apparently, DC Comics disagreed - the artist has not been invited to do a cameo in the upcoming Zack Snyder-directed flick, which will drop in U.S. theaters on March 25, 2016
