Eager Fans await the confirmation of the release date of the highly acclaimed first-person shooter: "Half Life 3."

According to a YouTube channel, called The Know, there's ill news for "Half-Life 3" as the game will not be released anytime soon. The source said the game is well in the development stage; with the game's story, script and events laid out. The report further revealed that the game is manned by a mere skeleton crew of 10 people. The chain of bad news continued as their source told The Know that Valve's management is not interested in releasing the game for reasons that "DOTA 2" and other games are making the company huge income on Steam.

Recently surfaced rumors indicate that the game will be released in virtual reality (VR) mode. With the progress done by Facebook on their Oculus Rift and Sony's Project Morpheus, it's only logical for Valve to capitalize on this technological advancement in gaming. The gamer's negative reaction to the ending of "Mass Effect 3" led Valve to worry about "Half Life 3" getting the same criticism and slowed the game's development.

The rumors on fan's pessimistic reaction to "Mass Effect 3" affecting "Half Life 3" was falsified by Valve's Marc Laidlaw. According to Forbes, Laidlaw addressed the issue in his response saying, "I can't comment on Valve's internal process, but it sounds like someone is trolling.  Anonymous sources have been posting speculation masquerading as inside knowledge since the Half-Life 1 delay in 1997." He further said, "If it's any comfort, please rest assured that in my experience at Valve, fear is the last thing that would ever drive a decision about what to work on."

Valve's website showed a logo and teaser poster earlier this month. To the fans' dismay, the teaser was removed from the website when they tried to examine the said poster. Adding to the fans' disappointment was Valve's statement last week that denied ever releasing a teaser on their website. It was instead referred as a hacking job done by an avid "Half Life" fan. Prior to the alleged attack on Valve's website, an image of what was believed to be the logo of "Half Life 3" went viral. This led fans to speculate on a possible release date, but the rumor was shot down by the company.
