New details regarding the "Final Fantasy 7 remake" have been unveiled and it seems that the battle system for the game would be changed.
It appears that Square Enix is looking to change the battle system of the "Final Fantasy 7 remake" and they've teased that the changes would be drastic but would still be recognizable to long-time fans of the series.
In a report by Sam Prell of Games Radar, Tetsuya Nomura admitted that the battle system of the "Final Fantasy 7 remake" would have drastic changes but jokes around saying that it would be so drastic that it would become a shooter.
"And of course, that being said we want to clarify: We're not going to be changing it into a shooter or something like that. We are going to be bringing dramatic changes, but we want to make sure it's still recognizable," said Nomura.
Nomura also admitted that the development team of the "Final Fantasy 7 remake" has been looking into the "Final Fantasy 7: Advent Children" as a reference on how the game would look and play but notes that it would only be limited to that specific detail.
According to an interview with Wired.com, Nomura admitted that they are planning to make the "Final Fantasy 7" feel fresh to returning and new players alike.
"In terms of taking a such an iconic game and giving it a fresh feel, we can't go into too much detail but we're not intending for this to become a one-to-one remake, or just the original Final Fantasy VII with better graphics," said Nomura.
It should be noted Nomura admitted that when they are making changes to the game, he will not change what made the fans loved about the original game. He noted that it's a balancing act between knowing what to change and what should be untouched.
As was noted in the report by Wired.com, it has been speculated that the "Final Fantasy 7 remake" will lose the turn-based combat system and that it changed to a free flowing combat system used in traditional action rpg's such as "Kingdom Hearts."
"While Nomura couldn't reveal details on any revamped mechanics for the game -- though more active combat seems likely, rather than turn based as in the original," wrote Wired.
While there has been no official announcement from Square Enix regarding the "Final Fantasy 7 remake" release date, it is expected that it would be released a few years after the launch of "Final Fantasy XV."
