Former One Direction member Zayn Malik recently let his thoughts known about his former band's new single, "Drag Me Down." And it seems he likes it. Does this realization make him want to go back to 1D?

On August 1, the 22-year-old tweeted what he thought about the new track, which was the first one his former group released after his departure.

"Proud of my boys the new single is sick. Big love. :)," Zayn's tweet read. Looks like there's no bad blood between 1D and their erstwhile bandmate, despite previous social media tussles with Louis Tomlinson.

"Zayn has officially left his boy band days behind, recently signing to RCA to make 'real music,' but it's great that he's still able to maintain a good relationship with his former bandmates," Hollywood Life noted.

"'Drag Me Down' is the fastest song ever to reach number one on iTunes!" the entertainment news source added. What's amazing, too, is that they didn't tease or promote the song. Instead, the band's official Twitter page announced early on July 31 that the new song had dropped early."

With the continued success of One Direction the wake of Zayn's departure, is the British singer tempted to go back to his old band? Right now, it's safe to assume he's still bent on making his mark in the music industry on his own. Who knows whether he'll trace his steps right back to the band that made him a household name?

Shortly before the new 1D track dropped, Zayn had tweeted that he had signed with RCA and insinuated about making "real music."

"I guess I never explained why I left , it was for this moment to be given the opportunity to show you who i really am! #realmusic #RCA !!" his Twitter post declared on July 29th.

This declaration had controversial overtones as it appeared to suggest that 1D's music was not "real" and that Zayn appeared far from wanting to be a "normal 22-year-old," given his continued brushes with the limelight. After all, he did sign as a solo artist with another record company.

In March this year, Zayn quit One Direction with an eye to leading a "normal" life.

"My life with One Direction has been more than I could ever have imagined. But, after five years, I feel like it is now the right time for me to leave the band," MailOnline noted him as saying.

"I'd like to apologise to the fans if I've let anyone down, but I have to do what feels right in my heart. I am leaving because I want to be a normal 22-year-old who is able to relax and have some private time out of the spotlight," his statement explained.

"I know I have four friends for life in Louis, Liam, Harry and Niall. I know they will continue to be the best band in the world," he said in conclusion.
