Previously, Apple users were told that there would be no iPhone 6c model coming out.

However, rumors keep surfacing that Apple has a device in the works and may release it before the end of the year or in 2016.

MacWorld wrote that there were speculations that the iPhone 6c, should it be released, will feature a 1715mAh battery, which is better than the 1510mAh battery found in the iPhone 5c.

The handset may also feature NFC and Touch ID, which can be used with Apple Pay.

The iPhone 6c might also mimic the new iPod touch model, at least in terms of color range and the A8 and M8 processors. The product may have 3G or 4G connectivity.

There are also rumors that the phone might match the available colors of the Apple Watch Sport straps.

There are also talks that the iPhone 6c will feature a 4-inch display and metal case. There were previous talks that the smartphone might launch in September 2015, together with the iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus.

Timothy Arcuri, an analyst at Cowen and Company, reported that Apple already ditched plans to make an iPhone 6c. He said that the company wanted to prevent cannibalization of the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus by the iPhone 6c.

“I think one of the reasons is because the iPhone 6 has sold so well and they said, ‘Look, why would we want to cannibalize? If we came out with an iPhone 6C, we could essentially cannibalize a price-reduced iPhone 6.’” Arcuri told Business Insider.

According to supply chain sources, Apple has no new production tasks involving a 4-inch iPhone. Sources believe that after featuring a 4.7-inch screen on the iPhone 6 with huge success, the 4-inch version may no longer be required.

MacWorld wrote that it might be cheaper compared to the iPhone 5c during launch.

Users would also prefer the device to have at least 16GB of internal memory.

The 8GB iPhone 5c retailed at $499 at launch. People would want an iPhone 6c to sell for $349 or at the same price as the Apple Watch.

ZDNet stated that Apple understands that the iPhone 6 is selling well at the moment, compared to the bigger iPhone 6 Plus, so the company might be maximizing the handset’s popularity at the moment.

If Apple recognizes the demand for a 4-inch version, it would be expected to suffice customer demand accordingly.
