The new Marvel superhero series “Jessica Jones” will launch before the end of 2015. The new show was announced by Netflix at the Television Critics Association summer meeting on July 28, 2015.

TIME reported that Marvel and Netflix partnered to deliver five different shows to the streaming service. Netflix recently announced that it plans to present a new Marvel superhero series every six months. The new shows will focus on “The Defenders”, a group of comic book superheroes who work on the street level. “Daredevil” is the first in the series and launched in April 2015. “Jessica Jones” will be the second to appear on Netflix before 2015 ends. “Iron Fist” and “Luke Cage” are said to follow. After all four heroes star in their respective series, they will group together for a “Defenders” series.

Jessica Jones is the first female superhero to star in her own Marvel project.

Hollywood Reporter wrote that “Jessica Jones” will be very different from “Daredevil”, but the two shows will have the same mythology, according to showrunner Melissa Rosenberg.

Rosenberg said at the Television Critics Association Press Tour that the mythology of the universe has a connection, although the appearance and tone will be very different.

Krysten Ritter will star in “Jessica Jones”, taking on the role of a former superhero suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder who starts her own detective agency. Mike Colter will take on the role of Luke Cage, David Tennant will play Kilgrave / The Purple Man, Carrie-Anne Moss will play Harper and Rachael Taylor will take on the role of Trish “Patsy” Walker.

Exiting showrunner of “Daredevil” Steven S. DeKnight praised Rosenberg and shared his excitement for the next series. The upcoming series have been highly anticipated by fans since these were announced earlier in the year.

“I’ve been coming to Comic-Con for 12 years, and I think a lot of fans here have been eager to see more women onscreen for a long time. I was really happy to see the characters Karen and Claire become these heroes onDaredevil, but I really can’t wait for Jessica Jones to be the hero of her own show,” 30-year-old Dawn Keiser from California, told TIME at San Diego Comic-Con in July 2015.

IGN stated that the exact launch date of “Jessica Jones” have not yet been announced, but the series will consist of 13 episodes and will most likely debut in November or December 2015.
