Samsung Electronics recently announced its huge event happening on August 13, 2015, aptly titled “Samsung Galaxy Unpacked 2015.” It is believed that the company might finally feature the highly anticipated Galaxy Note 5 at the Lincoln Center in New York.

Wall Street Journal wrote that Samsung intends to unveil the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus model, together with the Galaxy Note 5 phablet, at the same event.

GSM Arena received a screenshot of the system information tab of the Note 5 from an unknown source. The phone was a prototype of the international model, which will present model number SM-N920F. The next Galaxy Note will feature Samsung’s Exynos 7422 chipset, which is an improvement from the Exynos 7420 on the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge. The device should be the first silicon made by Samsung to have the modem on the same chip as the GPU and CPU. The Galaxy Note 5 also have 4GB of RAM and 32GB of internal memory. It is not yet confirmed whether the built-in storage will be expandable via microSD card.

The Note 5 will feature a 5.7-inch QHD display with the same 2560 x 1440 pixel display as the Note 4. The prototype ran Android 5.1.1 Lollipop so the upcoming version might also have the same OS out of the box. Other expected features include Samsung’s TouchWiz user interface and a manual-ejecting S Pen stylus.

Forbes stated that new images of the Galaxy Note 5 leaked recently, which showed that it will be very similar to the Galaxy S6, except for the S Pen. Familiar design features will be present, such as the curved glass rear panel and the metal frame, giving the phablet a very sophisticated and premium appearance. There are also reports that the Note 5 and Galaxy S6 Edge Plus may release in different territories to prevent the two from clashing in terms of sales. There were previous reports that the S6 Edge Plus might launch globally, while the Galaxy Note 5 may initially be released in Asia and North America only. Sam Mobile revealed that Samsung may be putting more emphasis and financial support in the S6 Edge Plus smartphone than the Note 5.

Overall, fans will be delighted to know more about the two devices much earlier than the previously anticipated unveiling at the IFA 2015 set in September. More details and specifications about the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 are expected to roll out in the next month.
