There are rumors that the Sony Xperia Z5 is already in the works. The new smartphone may have ties with the upcoming James Bond film “Spectre”.

Digi-Wo wrote that Sony launched the Xperia Z3+ (XperiaZ4 in other areas) in 2015, but the company might have one more flagship model to launch later in the year. It is not surprising for Sony to launch more than one flagship handset in a single year. This time, fans expect the Xperia Z5 and Xperia Z5 Compact to release in a few months.

A few leaked images from China hinted that the Sony Xperia Z5 might be made for the new James Bond film. “Spectre” might feature the new smartphone several times, and the device might actually launch with the film. If this is the case, the Xperia Z5 will most likely launch in late October or early November 2015, depending on the location. The Verge reported that there were previous disputes over the smartphone that James Bond would be holding in the next film. In “Skyfall”, Craig was spotted using the Sony Xperia T. He might be holding the latest Sony handset for a sum of $5 million.

Mobipicker reported that the Sony Xperia Z5 may feature a 5.5-inch screen, which is a 0.3 increase from the Z4. It may have a resolution of 1080 x 1920 and a pixel density of 401ppi. The handset may also run on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 SoC, with an octa-core CPU and the Adreno 430 GPU. The phone may also feature 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal memory. The Z5 may include a 20.7-megapixel rear camera and an 8-megapixel front shooter. It may also have fingerprint scanning technology. The smartphone is set to compete with the iPhone 6s and Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+ when it launches.

Softpedia cited that the Z5 and Z5 Compact will run on the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop OS out of the box. The two are codenamed Xperia E6603 and E5803 respectively. Based on the leaked images, the “Z” on the phone was blurred, which can mean that Sony might come up with another name for the flagship phone instead of Z5. Other sources predict that the phone will have 4GB of RAM and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor. The device might feature a 21-megapixel Sony Exmor RS rear camera with IMX230 sensor, LED flash, autofocus and 4K video recording. The retail price is yet to be confirmed by Sony.
