News on the newest model for the Moto G series has been swirling around the Internet since its announcement months ago. However, no news has been released on how much the unit will actually cost.

According to several sources, the price tag for the much awaited phone seems to be pegged at US$179.99 which is comparatively cheap considering phones, such as the iPhone 6 and Samsung S6, have reached up to $500 per unit.

According to GSM Arena, the information came from a leaked photograph by a retailer in Switzerland. Notably, the price $179.99 is exactly the same as that of last year's model. This is impressive since the phone has significant upgrades to what the previous year's model has to offer.

Android Authority reports that the leaked information about the specs of the phone will also be remarkable. The Moto G third generation will be sporting a 5-inch full HD AMOLED display, 2 GB of RAM, either 8GB or 16 GB of expandable memory, and several other features such as water resistance and an Android 5.1.1 operating system. According to Motorola's website, users of the third-generation Moto G will have the ability to use Moto Maker which will the first time the application becomes available to the users of the G-Series.

The Moto G series is the mid-range unit of the phone developer Motorola. Focus on this unit type has been gaining momentum since leaked information on its specs are abundant. Currently, many phone developers mainly based in Asia, such as Lenovo, are anxiously waiting on how the sales of the third-generation Moto G will fair. These companies may use the launching of the third-generation Moto G in the United States as a stepping stone into the Western markets.

However, Motorola sometimes releases several versions of their units with slight differences. It is yet unclear if the $179.99 price tag will be able to handle 4G Internet or will only be confined to a 3G setting. If there are two different types which handle different Internet speeds, then the 4G unit will be more expensive than the 3G unit.

One thing is for certain: Motorola has slated that the third-generation Moto G will be unveiled on July 28, 2015. Until then, fans of the G series will just have to wait on what exactly Motorola has in store for them.
