Good news for "Harry Potter" fans as they could get their wish of getting "Harry Potter 8" if the reports and rumors are to be believed.

It seems like Chris Columbus just can't get over "Harry Potter" as he admits that he'd definitely grab at the chance to direct "Harry Potter 8."

According to Screen Rant, Columbus admitted that he would love to direct "Harry Potter 8" should the chance arise.

Entertainment Weekly added that Columbus had always wanted to direct all of the "Harry Potter" movies but chose not to as he wanted to focus on being his family. However, he noted that he would love to see Harry Potter, Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger back together in "Harry Potter 8."

"I would love to go back and do another one,Not 'Fantastic Beasts' as much, which I think is going to be amazing, but I would love to do another movie with those three characters - Harry, Hermione, and Ron. I'm just fascinated about what happened to them after the end of the last movie, because then they cut to 18 years ahead. There's 18 years there of great 'Harry Potter' stories," said Columbus.

It should be noted that Columbus admitted that he can't make a personal request to J.K. Rowling to continue the story of Harry Potter because he has so much respect for. He notes that J.K Rowling should do what she wants to do when it comes to the franchise.

"I don't have the courage to actually mention that to her because I have such respect for her... She should do what she wants to do, but I really would love to know what's in her head about those missing years," said Columbus in a report by the Huffington Post.

Meanwhile, the upcoming film adaptation of "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" will hit theatres next year. Rowling also confirmed that she is working on a stage play titled "Harry Potter and the Cursed Child," but noted that it will not be a prequel to the series.

While an eighth "Harry Potter" book could happen, it would not be a continuation of the epilogue of Book 7, as confirmed by J.K Rowling in a report by The Hollywood Reporter.

"I have always said never say never...But I think 'Harry Potter 8,' as in what happened next to Harry, Ron and Hermione - I don't think that's going to happen," said Rowling.
