New details for "Gotham" Season 2 have been unveiled as a new cast member has been added to show. What can fans of the show expect when this new character appears in the next season of "Gotham"?
It looks like the James Gordon and Harvey Bullock would have another cop to partner with to take down the notorious crooks and villains of Gotham as it has been confirmed that the GCPD will have a new captain named Nathaniel Barnes.
Nick Veneble of Cinema Blend has reported that "Shield" star Michael Chiklis has been cast as GCPD Captain Nathaniel Barnes. As was noted on the report Nathaniel Barnes would be the one that the cops over at GCPD would look up to in times of good and bad.
As was stated by the producers of "Gotham", Nathaniel Barnes is a man justice and that will make him a good ally and a powerful enemy.
"[Barnes] lands on the GCPD like a tornado, ripping out the dead wood of Gotham's police force. He is a law and order zealot; unafraid of making enemies - on either side of the law...Captain Barnes proves himself to be a strong ally to Gordon, but one day he will make an equally powerful enemy."
Cinema Blend noted that the dynamic between Gordon and Barnes would be very interesting as it would be inevitable that Gordon would look up Barnes as an inspiration and it would be interesting to see what happens when the inevitable happens when Gordon gets let down by Barnes.
The report by Cinema Blend also notes that "Gotham" would have a bunch of new characters for the season aside from Nathaniel Barnes.
As noted on the report, Mr. Freeze has been added to the "Gotham" season 2 villains list along with theMad Hatter, Clayface, billionaire industrialist Theo Galavant and his sister Tabitha aka notorious Batman villain, Tigress.
Don't expect everything to be all rainbows and butterflies in "Gotham" season 2 as Bruno Heller has confirmed that this season will be the rise of Gotham's villains as noted on TV Line.
"This season, it's the rise of the villains, [as Gotham] starts to decline into chaos," says Heller.
However, Ben Mackenzie notes that when villains rise, heroes would rise too.
"As the villains rise, there's an arms race, and the good guys have to increase their force as well. There'll be new heroes introduced," said Mackenzie in a different report by TV Line.
"Gotham" Season 2 will premiere on Sep 21, 2015.
