Recent reports peg the release of the Galaxy Note 5 and the S6 Edge Plus as happening on August 13 this year, which somehow explains the flurry of rumors and leaks about the said gadgets emerging in cybersphere these days.

If indeed true, releasing 2 major products at the same time sounds like Samsung wants all eyes on its latest offerings, with the second item serving as a compelling option for audiences to temporarily ignore any rival brand's launch activity around the same date.

According to Business Korea, the rush to release the phablets may be down to the South Korean juggernaut wanting to "not only check Apple, which threatens its number one position in global smartphone market share, but also capture consumers before the release of the iPhone 6S in September."

Industry insiders have also revealed to the publication that the company will be launching the products in New York.

Normally unveiled at the annual IFA, the Galaxy Note series' August launch is considered a very early date. Considering Apple's superior revenues in the smartphone market compared to Samsung's Galaxy S6 sales, the company is doing what it can to boost turnover in its Galaxy S6 line.

The latest buzz also revealed that the two phablets appear to be very similar to each other, which could probably explain why both will be released at the same time. They're reportedly so similar that the S6 Edge Plus has been dubbed the "Note 5 without a stylus."

"The tangible specs differences between the two are very few, if we count out the S Pen Stylus, of course," Phone Arena noted. "One of these is be the amount of RAM - 4 GB for the Note 5, and 3 GB for the S6 edge Plus, as well as the battery capacity, which on the Note 5 is said to be 4100mAh, versus 3000 mAh on the S6 edge Plus."

The rest will stay the same," the site went on to say, "a 5.7" Quad HD Super AMOLED display on both, Exynos 7422/7420, and a 16 MP camera with optical image stabilization."

Recently, a new set of Note 5 renders are making the rounds on the Internet, showing the casing of the upcoming device. The said cases have a curved back, with some appearing to be transparent.

"Upon closer inspection, we can see just how much the Galaxy S6 edge has influenced the new Note design. As for the cases themselves, there are from the Rearth Ringke Fusion and Rearth Ringke Slim series and already up for preorder," GSM Arena said.
