After a brief halt to recovery efforts earlier this week, volunteer and donation operations are in full swing for the second weekend since Hurricane Sandy ravaged the East Coast. Throughout New York and New Jersey, hundreds of volunteers have spent countless hours helping clean up towns, feeding homebound seniors and putting neighborhoods back in order.

For those looking to help out this weekend, Latinos Post rounds up the latest volunteer and donation opportunities. As always, we encourage our readers to make monetary donations to the American Red Cross, which is helping victims of Hurricane Sandy throughout the East Coast. To donate, visit redcross.org, call 1-800-733-2767, or text REDCROSS to 90999 to make a $10 contribution.

The American Red Cross is also accepting blood donations to replace donations lost in the storm. To schedule a blood donation appointment, be sure to visit the American Red Cross' website or call 1-800-RED CROSS.
