Some people are not their usual selves when they'd had one drink too many. If you're one of them, which of the four kinds researchers have recently uncovered would best fit your inebriated self?

"Psychology researchers from the University of Missouri at Columbia have published a study in 'Addiction Research & Theory' attempting to bring the conventional wisdom that there are many distinct ways to be drunk," Time reported. "Their study, which involved 374 undergraduates at a large Midwestern university, drew from literature and pop culture in order to conclude that there are four types of drinkers: the Mary Poppins, the Ernest Hemingway, the Nutty Professor and the Mr. Hyde."

The study revealed that 42% if the participants - the largest in the group - displayed the Hemingway profile: "drinkers who tend not to undergo drastic character changes or experience harms," as note by Yahoo! In other words, these are the people who can get drunk and still appear sober, just like the writer himself, who had allegedly prided himself on being able to "drink hells any amount of whiskey without getting drunk."

About 23% of the subjects were classified as Mr. Hyde, which means they were "particularly less responsible, less intellectual, and more hostile when under the influence of alcohol."

Yahoo! Noted that this category could very well be called "Ms. Hyde" as majority of those in this group were actually female.

About one fifth of the 374 were identified as the Nutty Professor as they shed off their introverted dispositions and "became much more gregarious and uninhibited afterward."

Finally, the 15% that were classified as Mary Poppins were, as what the movie character describes herself, "practically perfect in every way" even when drunk. "They are already outgoing types who somehow get sweeter and happier with alcohol," Time pointed out.

The researchers then went on to rationalize the study as helpful in creating "future alcoholism interventions to particular personality types."

On a side note, a separate study found that those with lighter eye colors (green or gray at the center) are more likely to be alcoholic than their dark-eyed counterparts. Researchers are unsure about this link, although they know that "the very genes that determine eye color are situated along the same chromosome as genes that are known to be linked to alcohol dependency," Newser said.

So, which type of drunk are you? Were the scientists spot on in their classifications or do they need to add more categories? Comment and tell us what you think!
