More than 4 months after Google officially announced Android Lollipop 5.1, recent reports say that Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 users can now update their device to the latest mobile OS version.

"Users of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 with the model number SM-T330NU can now update their devices to the latest Android 5.1.1 Lollipop as the tablet has started receiving the new firmware, which comes with the build number T330NUUEU1BOG1," International Business Times said.

If you think you haven't received the update yet, check the OTA upgrade on your device manually. IBT also added you will have to use Odin to flash the firmware file in doing the 5.1.1 update. However, you'll need to make sure your gadget has been backed up and has is at least 80% charged.

"USB drivers for the Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 must be installed on the computer," the site also said. "USB debugging must be enabled on the phone."

Of course, make sure that the Galaxy Tab 4 you have is model SM-T330NU before doing all these.

Nexus 6 handset owners can also upgrade their Android OS to version 5.1.1 via Google's factory image. However, the said factory image is not exactly compatible with T-Mobile, as it "runs a pre-released stock Android 5.1.1 firmware," IBT said.

It is worth noting that some Nexus 6 smartphones have already been updated to 5.1.1. However, those that have been sent as part of Project Fi will need to take note of the new rollout and comply to get the upgrade.

"At the moment, only the Nexus 6 is compatible with Project Fi," Android Central said.

Android Lollipop 5.1.1 is also coming to Sony Xperia Z2 and Z3, albeit later this month, according to GSM Arena.

"The changes that the update will bring include additional Wi-Fi and Bluetooth options in the notification menu and new icons for the settings menu. You can also expect the update to deliver new animations," the tech news portal relayed.

As always, do make sure you've backed up the data in your device before initiating the update, as a preventive measure.

The latest Android update is seen as an immediate follow up to the recently-rolled out Lollipop 5.1. This is down to the fact that the latest version was issued to fix 5.1 glitches, among them "app crashes and device reboots," according to WCCF Tech. Notably, 5.1 was meant to iron out the major kinks in Android 5.0. However, the fix itself apparently needed some fixing, too. Hopefully, the current version will not trigger crucial issues and need yet another fix.
