News of a sequel to the "Alien" movie franchise are all over the news. Recently, director Neill Blomkamp posted on his Instagram the concept for the upcoming movie, "Alien 5."

We go back to the director's Instagram post showcasing the movie's concept art. From what it looks like, Sigourney Weaver will return as Ellen Ripley. Michael Biehn might also make a return to the series as Dwayne Hicks.

The concept art shows Ellen Ripley and Dwayne Hicks talking to a soldier wearing some kind of armor. On his shoulder is the South Korean flag. This falls to question as to what happened to the Weyland-Yutani Corporation.

Speculations suggest that there may be a new corporation in the works that will be introduced by Blomkamp's "Alien 5" movie.

According to the series' canon storyline, the Weyland-Yutani Corporation was removed from the top list of Earth's organization. The corporation then re-emerged in the movie "Alien Resurrection" as a bigger and more powerful company.

Another speculation say that the Weyland-Yutani Corporation is still active and that they now have a South Korea branch.

Screen Rant reported that like the series revivals of "Jurassic World" and "Terminator Genisys", Blomkamp's "Alien 5" will be the closest continuation to the series (James Cameron's Alien). Science fiction being his forte, there is much to look forward to in this movie even though "Alien 5" is still the planning stage.

Den of Geek also made a report saying that how Neill Blomkamp's "Alien 5" fits in the series still remains a mystery.

His name might be new to the movie industry, but Blomkamp has made waves. The 2013 movie, "Elysium" garnered quite a decent review. Rotten Tomatoes gave "Elysium" a 6.5 out 10 while metacritic gave it a score of 7.0. His 2015 movie "Chappie", however, gained conflicted reviews. Rotten Tomatoes was not impressed and gave it a 4.8 out of 10 while IMDB gave it a score rating of 7.0 out of 10.

Blomkamp, 35, was born in Johannesburg, South Africa on Sep 17, 1979. He then immigrated to Canada at 18 years old. The director graduated from Vancouver Film School's 3D Animation and Visual Effects program in 1998. Blomkamp is known for directing science fiction movies such as District 9, Elysium, and Chappie.

With such highly acclaimed science fiction movies under his repertoire, Blomkamp will have a heavy responsibility on his shoulders. Fans of the series will look closer on how he will handle this new instalment.
