It has been two months since the season ender of "The Vampire Diaries" was aired and fans are itching for some more updates.

During Comic-Con last weekend, cast of the television show lined up in front of their followers and fans to announce a Season 7. During the event, the members of the cast have announced some information. One such news, as reported on Hollywood Life, is that Nina Dobrev's character isn't really gone for good.

Last season, Elena was placed under a spell that has put her in a state of comatose. This would seem like an inescapable predicament, unless Bonnie, played by Kat Graham, is killed or some kind of time jump during the season occurs.

Damon Salvatore, played by Ian Somerhalder, will be the one most affected by Elena's condition since he has a very strong attachment to her as reported on Master Herald. Somerhalder does seem excited for season 7 despite the absence of Elena. The writers do have some form of compensation for Damon later on in the season to lift him up during his rough times.

Ian Somerhalder further added that Elena is not dead, she's just taking a 70-year nap inside a coffin. He also said that the show's entire crew is excited to move the story forward and shed some new light on Mystic Falls.

Pop Sugar reported that Michael Malarkey's character Enzo will flash forward and we might see him with someone that's already a familiar face in the show. Speculation suggests that it might be Candice Accola's character, Caroline.

The report further stated that Stefan, played by Paul Wesley, and Caroline's relationship will continue to bloom. Stefan will be torn between two sides as his loyalty is questionable at best. Caroline will help him decide on which side to take.

New villains will arise as Caroline Dries, the show's producer, said. The Heretics will be new bad guys and the producer described them as "Kai but times six." That sounds like a very bad news for the characters.

Another news states that there will be a lesbian couple to be part of the show. Mary-Louise and Nora are two heretics who met in the year 1900. They are now experiencing for the first time to be open with their relationship. After all, this is the era where same-sex marriage is publically accepted.

"The Vampire Dairies" Season 7 will air this fall on The CW network.
