After the Double Down sandwich comes the Chizza.

KFC recently launched another curious gustatory innovation - pizza with the flour-based crust replaced with filleted chicken fried to a crisp.

The Chizza, a hybrid form of the words "chicken" and "pizza," is only sold in the Philippines for a limited time, yet the food item has since made the rounds in cybersphere and has been commented on by people around the globe.

"Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) in the Philippines is promoting 'KFChizza,' a pizza with a crust made out of fried chicken - kind of like the Double Down, but with pizza toppings," Time said, adding that the concoction looks similar to chicken parmesan.

"Other unusual pizza crusts on the market recently have included pigs in a blanket, three-and-a-half feet of bacon, Doritos and one stuffed with cheeseburgers," the news source noted.

Mashable pointed out that the Chizza comes on the heels of the launch of pizza-flavored chicken wings in Hong Kong, another Asian destination.

Sounds like the fast food joint is riding on a pizza wave in Asia.

"This is not the company's first foray into hybrid foods," CNBC pointed out. "In 2010, KFC offered the Double Down sandwich, a bacon and cheese sandwich with two pieces of fried chicken as the bread."

"And let's not forget earlier this year, when KFC rolled out the Double Down Dog, a hot dog covered in cheese and stuffed in a bun-sized piece of fried chicken," it added.

Meanwhile, the pizza-flavored wings sold in Hong Kong has a rather longer name - the "Napoli Crispy Chicken Pizza," a meal set of which "includes two pieces of the viral creation, mushroom rice, egg tart, and a soft drink," according to the London Evening Standard.

What do you say to pizza-style food?

Social media has since reacted to the "food abomination" with jokes, memes, amused comments, and outraged remarks.

"I am not saying chizza is the worst brand name i have ever seen but it is top 3 definitely," said Twitter user darth!.

"And I looked and behold: a pale horse. And his name, that sat on him, was Chizza. And Hell followed with him," tweeted Chris Jackson.

Some looked at the new offering with more positivity.

"This will be my future in less than a week," said @EXISTlNGHUMAN's post.
