Wrestling legend Stone Cold Steve Austin will be gracing the cover of the upcoming game “WWE 2K16.”

Game publisher 2K revealed the new cover, showing Austin with a grim look on his face, both his arms raised above his head and his hands forming fists in a bold and victorious gesture. The former WWE star had his signature black leather jacket on, featuring the iconic white skull and his name in white print. The background was black and red and shattered glass surrounded Austin, adding to the intensity of the image. The 2K logo was on the lower right portion of the cover, while the opposite side stated “16 Provisional”.

Polygon wrote that Stone Cold has not been actively wrestling in the WWE for over 10 years. However, WWE owner Vince McMahon previously hailed Austin as the undisputed most popular wrestler in the history of the organization. Austin is a host on two successful podcasts and appears on the shows every week. He is still very popular among current WWE fans and stays within the loop in terms of wrestling news and organization updates.

In 2016, WrestleMania 32 will happen at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, the home state of Stone Cold. There are rumors that Austin might return to the ring one more time to delight his hometown fans, which can help set new attendance records and bring in about 100,000 people at the venue. There were previous talks of a potential match between Austin and Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania.

IGN.com reported that the game still has a pending rating, although it is aiming for a rating of Teen or Above. Game developer Take-Two revenues were down by $700 million in the current year, compared to last year’s earnings of $2.4 billion. IGN gave “WWE 2K15” a score of 5.9 or “mediocre” because of how it lacked various modes and characters. Many fans were disappointed by the thin roster and lack of creative content. Hopefully, the upcoming version will feature more. There is still no news whether Stone Cold’s character will be part of the game roster, but chances are high, considering that he is the cover star.

IGN.com reported that “WWE 2K16” will be playable on the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. The game will be released on October 27, 2015 in North America. In Europe, it will launch on October 30. More details about the game will most likely come out in the coming weeks.
