Fans are speculating that more new standalone Superman movies will be launched in the future.

Super Hero Hype revealed Warner Bros.’ full list of DC Comics films in the next five years. Some of the notable titles included “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” and “Suicide Squad” in 2016, “The LEGO Batman Movie”, “Justice League Part One” and a standalone “Wonder Woman” movie in 2017, “The Flash”, “Aquaman” and the sequel to “The LEGO Movie” in 2018, “Shazam” and “Justice League Part Two” in 2019, and “Cyborg” and “Green Lantern” in 2020.

Warner Bros. also confirmed that there are also plans to launch solo films for Batman and Superman, although no release date has been set at the moment, or any other information revealed, for that matter.

Actor Henry Cavill, who played Superman in “Man of Steel” and will reprise his role in “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” and the two “Justice League” movies, reportedly hoped that he would have a standalone film in the future.

“There’s plenty of time for individual Superman sequels. He’s a tough character to tell. People like the darker vigilante. I think it speaks to the human psyche more easily rather than the god-like being that we can’t really understand. Once we have a more expansive universe we can delve more into the character of Superman and hopefully tell more stories,” Cavill said.

ComingSoon reported that in “Dawn of Justice,” Academy Award winner Ben Affleck will take on the role of Batman/Bruce Wayne. Batman and Superman will be battling each other, exposing mankind to a new type of danger. The movie is being directed by Zack Snyder and written by Chris Terrio. It is based on a screenplay by David S. Goyer. The producers are Charles Roven and Deborah Snyder. The executive producers are Michael E. Uslan, Wesley Coller, Geoff Johns, David S. Goyer and Benjamin Melniker.

The cast will also feature Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman/Diana Prince, Amy Adams, Diane Lane, Laurence Fishburne, Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor, Holly Hunter and Jeremy Irons as Alfred, Bruce Wayne’s loyal butler. Jason Momoa will appear as Aquaman.

Although there is still no confirmation when fans will actually see Superman in a solo film, they can look forward to at least three films where the last son of Krypton will be played by Henry Cavill. “Dawn of Justice” will hopefully set the plane for more standalone Superman films.

“Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” is set to release worldwide on March 25, 2016.
