Just weeks after the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus was unveiled, rumors about their successor started trickling in. And now that the rumored September keynote event is fast approaching, the Apple rumor mill has ground out more leaks and tidbits than ever.

Reports say that this year may be no different than the previous one in that the iPhone maker may still release not one but 2 handsets - the iPhone 6S and the 6S Plus, as they've since been called by pundits.

According to Phone Arena, there won't be a "major redesign" on the said devices. However, the Cupertino-based firm may "stick to its tradition of focusing on internal hardware and software updates in the year right after it introduced a new design with the iPhone 6."

The camera will reportedly be improved, going up to 12 megapixels, thus allowing 4K video recording. Rumors also ppint to a "240fps slow-motion video recording" capability, although its resolution has not been established yet.

Recently, a dampener of a leak provided by 9to5Mac insinuated that an entry-level iPhone 6S would only have 16GB storage space - a disappointing fact for many, including Forbes' Gordon Kelly.

"Despite the bump last year to 64GB and 128GB iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus models and the move from rivals to step up to 32GB as the new entry level, Apple will once again leave the entry level iPhone 6S with just 16GB of storage," Kelly reiterated.

"There is a possibility Apple may be only using the 16GB chip for test purposes (this isn't unprecedented)," he offered. "Then again this would seem an optimistic hope after Apple Senior VP Phil Schiller recently defended the 16GB edition by promoting Apple's iCloud and Music services as well as attempts to reduce the size of the core iOS installation."

However, it's also been said that iOS 9, the upcoming OS version for iPhones and iPads, won't be taking up much space.

In addition, it's also been reported that the Force Touch technology already installed in the new Macbook and Apple Watch will also be equipped in the upcoming iPhone version. Reputable analyst Ming-Chi Kuo of KGI Securities have since agreed to this possibility, Phone Arena reiterated. However, it's not clear how this new feature will work on the soon-to-be-released handset.

Further, it's also been rumored that the iPhone 6S will have an A9 chip under the hood. Although not much is known about the said processor, Phone Arena expect it "to be built by Samsung and not TSMC due to the more advanced manufacturing that's already available at Samsung fabs."
