Will there be an Apple keynote event in September? Reports point to a positive answer.

Foxconn insiders reportedly confirmed that the facility has begun "mass producing the new iPhone," M.I.C. Gadget said.

"iPhone 6s would be imprisoned in the body thickness of 7 mm, 0.1 mm larger than the dimensions 'old' iPhone 6, and iPhone 6s Plus receive 7.13-mm enclosure - 0.3 mm more than 'old' iPhone6 Plus," the site added, also revealing that the said device will be released on September 18 this year.

"Official presentation (Keynote) iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus held in 11-th September 2015," it went on to say.

Considering the proximity of both activities, it is expected that the iPhone maker will be talking about its latest smartphone model during the said keynote event, which typically happens in September each year.

The tech juggernaut may also unveil other new products and improvements, as is its SOP. However, will it be able to reveal something that we haven't heard from the rumor mill? Leak after leak of the company's upcoming devices, from the iPhone 6S to the iPad Mini 4, have regularly figured in tech news headlines. The keynote event may end up serving as that one venue where all our suspicions will be confirmed or debunked; a case of "I-told-you-sos" and "I-knew-it." The element of surprise may be lacking, except if Apple managed to salvage a juicy morsel or two for public consumption and awe by leaking out "misleading" information and keeping the real score a secret, for example.

Meanwhile, Phone Arena appeared to be skeptical about the recent info leak.

"We're not too sure of the report's further claim that the handset will be announced on September 11th," the site opined. "A date with a back story that instantly resonates with everybody -- particularly those in the U.S. -- it seems very, very unlikely that the country's foremost company would hijack a day of national mourning to announce its Next Big Thing."

"With Fridays in September usually favored by Cupertino in releasing its annual smartphone upgrade, Friday 18th could be right on the money," it offered. "It was, after all, Friday 19th September 2014 that both the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus graced us with their radical redesigns."

Do you agree? What are your own forecasts?

In other updates, Forbes' Gordon Kelly said that the iPhone 6S may reportedly keep "worst iPhone 6 Ffature" - the 16GB storage option.

"Despite the bump last year to 64GB and 128GB iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus models and the move from rivals to step up to 32GB as the new entry level, Apple will once again leave the entry level iPhone 6S with just 16GB of storage," Kelly said.
