Everybody knows about the mobile wars waged between Samsung and Apple with their curved and flexible screens. What consumers didn't know is that companies like Asus is waging a different kind of battle as well with another giant in the industry, namely, Motorola.
The American company Motorola released the Motorola DROID Turbo last October 2014, and accordingly the Chinese company, Asus released the Zenfone 2 earlier this January with what seems to be comparable to each other externally.
There are conflicted reports, however, on who is actually firing the first shots in this "war." Master Herald reported that Asus is specifically targeting Motorola. Another report came from UK Marketing News saying that Asus is waging war against the American company Motorola.
To some it may be a problem getting all the information on the internet, let's look at both phones using GSM Arena's detailed specifications. This should give consumers the idea on which is better: DROID Turbo or Zenfone 2.
First on the inspection is both phones' body. The Zenfone comes with 143.5 x 73.3 x 8.3 - 11.2 in dimension. It weighs 169 g, houses a nano-SIM and splash resistant. The DROID Turbo is 152.2 x 77.2 x 10.9, weighs 170 g, and has a dual micro-SIM.
When it comes to display, Asus has a wider screen at 5.5 inches but only provides 1080 x 1920 pixels in resolutions. The Motorola phone may lose in size, coming in at just 5.2 inches. It wins when resolution is the issue, at 1440 x 2560 pixels.
Next on the agenda will be their platform and memory. Both phones run on Android's v5.1 (Lollipop) OS. The DROID turbo runs on Qualcomm's Snapdragon 805 chipset, Quadcore 2.5 GHZ Krait 450 for its central processing unit (CPU), graphics processing unit (GPU) runs on Adreno 420, with 3 GB RAM and 32/64 GB internal memory and no card slot.
Zenfone's chipset will come with Intel Atom's 2 GB RAM or 4 GB RAM. Its CPU can be Either Quadcore 2.3 GHZ or 1.8 GHZ. Graphics is run by PowerVR G6430. While it is at a disadvantage in processing power, Asus' phone does come with a card slot which can be expanded up to 64 GB with 2 or GB RAM.
Last on the list would be both phones' camera and video. The Motorola phone wins with a 21 megapixel camera and 2160p video at 24 frames per second. Asus is not far from the race with the Zenfone's camera at 13 megapixels and 1080p video at 30 frames per second.
As for the price tag, Zenfone 2 is sold at $300 while the DROID turbo can be bought for $700.
It will all come down to the consumers' choice on who wins. Whether the customer prefers the fancier, and slightly more advanced Motorola model or the sturdy, more affordable Asus phone; it's up to the customer to make the decision in the end.
