“Minecraft: Story Mode” is currently in development with more details expected at the upcoming Minecon.

Telltale Games hinted that the upcoming game will be unveiled more at the event which will happen on July 4 to 5, 2015 in London. Mojang is reportedy working with Telltale Games and other members of the Minecraft community to ensure that the game remains consistent and appeals to loyal fans.

Telltale Games tweeted, “Let us tell you a story…” followed by a Minecon logo.

The game was announced late in 2014 but details have been withheld by the developer in the past several months. IGN reported that the game will feature an original story where players get to pick their destiny, instead of creating an official backstory for Steve. Steve is the classic player character and default skin on “Minecraft”. The new approach offers players a whole new experience and more choices.

The announcement was made through an 8-bit game called “Info Quest II”, where players get to answer various questions as well as get different answers. According to “Info Quest II”, the upcoming “Minecraft: Story Mode” will be a narrative-driven video game. Telltale Games will create the game and it will be set in the Minecraft universe. The game will not explain the Minecraft universe as a whole too.

As for the release date, the initial episode is expected to become available sometime in 2015. The game will be playable on the Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, PC, PS Vita, iOS, Mac and Android.

“Minecraft” has grown to become one of the most popular games at present. Created by Mojang, the game and company were acquired by Microsoft for $2.5 billion in 2014. “Minecraft” continues to increase in terms of players and popularity with related projects pertaining to the game reportedly in the works. Engadget reported that the title has also shown to be a very useful tools for students and teachers. The game has open and customizable features that require problem-solving and critical thinking skills, which is why Microsoft is setting up a new portal for teachers to better discuss the game to students and share resources in class. New updates, DLCs and mash-ups are also in development as the title keeps on gaining momentum among children and adults alike. Microsoft has several plans for the game to maximize its potential.
