What's in store for Jenna and Matty in "Awkward" season 5?

Some have speculated that the two might just get together in the upcoming season, considering it will be the last. One of those people is actress Ashley Rickards, who plays Jenna in the TV series.

When asked by MTV what advice she would give her character, this was her response: "Get with Matty already, just get with Matty! Be his girlfriend. I don't understand. We've been here five years."

"And to follow her heart, too. She overthinks so many things, which I can relate to, but sometimes, she just needs to throw logic out the window and go for it," she added.

She is probably not the only one wishing Jenna and Matty would finally get back together. Apparently, even the showrunners want that to happen too. Mike Chessler and Chris Alberghini told TVLine that they will "wrap up the "never-ending story" of Matty and Jenna once and for all."

Further, Jenna may be getting a push in the right direction from an unlikely source (or sources). It's been said she will be "confronted by all of the guys that she's been with. It's a confrontation - or, actually, more like an intervention."

Rickards had revealed that Jenna and Matty may share a scene together during the carnival event and that a reconciliation may happen in the process, Enstars said. However, the actual shoot reportedly involved a lot of takes - for a humorous reason.

"There's a scene with Beau and I where we're going down a slide at, like, four in the morning. He goes down no problem, and my first try, I just stop because I didn't have any momentum," the actress recalled. "And I'm, like, pushing myself down. On the second try, I stop again, so there's a blooper reel of me just pushing myself down this slide for like 10 seconds. But it was a great day. A lot of fun."

Although "Awkward" is gearing up for a season ender, the show will feature new faces, nonetheless. One of them is former "Glee" actor Justin Prentice.

"Prentice will play Patrick, a blue-blooded Princeton student and world traveler who meets Tamara (Jillian Rose Reed) while visiting the country club," Deadline reported. "With high school ending and everyone heading in different directions, the second half of Season 5 will jump forward to one year later, summertime back in Palos Hills."

The last season of "Awkward" will premiere Monday, August 31.
