OnePlus recently announced on Facebook that it will be releasing the OnePlus 2 on July 27, 2015.

The company made the official announcement on June 29, 2015, together with an image that suggested how the new device will have a fingerprint scanning technology.

“More secure. More convenient. The fingerprint sensor is coming to the #OnePlus2,” the company wrote in a statement. The phone will be introduced at a VR presentation on July 27, 2015 at 10:00 p.m. EDT.

Phone Arena reported that the OnePlus 2 will have a 5.5-inch to 5.7-inch display. The resolution is not yet confirmed, although fans believe that the product will feature FHD (1080 x 1920) or QHD (1440 x 2560). It will also include the Snapdragon 810 SoC with an octa-core CPU and the Adreno 430 GPU. The 2.1 chipset version will be used. The device will also have the Type-C USB port, which allows users to insert the cable on either side of the device. Reportedly, the controversial invitation system will be used for the OnePlus 2 initially to balance supply and demand.

Phone Arena showed a back image of the alleged OnePlus 2, which featured the fingerprint scanner on a vertical bar, located just below the camera and flash.

GSM Arena wrote that the company promised how its next flagship phone will include one of the latest and most advanced fingerprint sensors available. OnePlus stated that the new fingerprint sensor will even work faster than Apple’s Touch ID. The company actually had the option of featuring the fingerprint scanner in the OnePlus One but decided to wait since they thought that the technology was not good enough at the time. Now, their new sensor is lightning quick and allows users to store up to five fingerprint profiles.

Fans of OnePlus are looking forward to the next version of the smartphone, considering how the first model, the OnePlus One, showcased great hardware and affordable prices. The company was founded in 2013 by former Oppo vice president Peter Lau. In an interview with Engadget, Lau said that he wanted the brand to be the "Muji" of the smartphone industry. The objective of OnePlus is to offer affordable phones with simplified yet excellent specifications. The white version of the first model had 16GB of internal storage and sold for $349. The Sandstone Black version had 64GB of internal storage and was sold for $399. The company initially expected to sell 50,000 to 100,000 units but sales reportedly jumped to almost 1 million.
