"IT'S NOT A... oh, will someone please take over?" said world-renowned author of the "Harry Potter" books, JK Rowling, on her Twitter account. "Harry Potter and the Cursed Child" was initially announced in December of 2013 with the following synopsis as reported by iDigitaltimes:

"What was it like to be the boy in the cupboard under the stairs? This brand new play, which will be developed for the UK theatre, will explore the previously untold story of Harry's early years as an orphan and outcast. Featuring some of our favourite characters from the Harry Potter books, this new work will offer a unique insight into the heart and mind of the now legendary young wizard. A seemingly ordinary boy, but one for whom Destiny has plans..."

Fans later assumed that this is a prequel. Speculations ran rampant all over the internet as to what the plot of this play would be. In some reports, the fans even thought that this was Harry Potter's early orphan days, according to Entertainment Weekly.

This was not the case as the protagonist's story was well introduced in both the book and the movie. Both media for the famous series garnered fans and critics from around the world.

Potter-heads still remember when the first book was released back in 1997. Movie fans rejoiced as "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone", the movie adaptation of the first book, was released to the massing fans back in 2001. It was a sad day for both movie and book fans when the series ended in 2007 for the book and 2011 for the movie.

The movie series brought to light some new and fresh talent. One of which is Daniel Radcliff who played Harry Potter in all the movie adaptations. The next on the spotlight is Emma Watson who played everyone's favourite brainy brunette, Hermione Granger.

As the tweets and rumours spread like wildfire, JK Rowling could not emphasize enough that this is not a prequel.

These are the just some of the author's tweets:

"Sadly, not a prequel. I thought I said that at some point. Anyway. Not a prequel."

"I can't remember where I said this, but Harry Potter and the #CursedChild isn't a prequel."

JK Rowling worked alongside television director Jack Thorne and director John Tiffany to make the "Harry Potter and the Cursed Child" play. The play is scheduled to make its debut on the Palace Theatre on London's West End next year.
