There are rumors that the Lumia 940 XL will be arriving soon -- and will come with the new Windows 10 operating system.

Previously, there were various concept images of the upcoming flagship smartphone. If it does pack the Windows 10 Mobile, the device is expected to feature state-of-the-art specs and performance such as an output higher than 1080p and quad HD. Phone Arena wrote that the Lumia 940 XL may include an iris scanner, a 5.7-inch display and an octa-core processor. The device may also have a 25-megapixel rear camera with 4K video.

AdDuplex confirmed that a new device, dubbed the “Microsoft RM-1100”, will feature a 2K 1440 x 2560 screen resolution, although the dimensions are still undisclosed. The information also showed the “Microsoft RM-1104”, said to be the Lumia 940. Overall the Lumia 940 XL will have a more powerful processor, a better screen and more features such as the iris scanner and pen.

Early reports stated that the Windows 10 will launch on a high-end Windows Phone. There were rumors that the official launch will be in September 2015. Digital Trends reported that people believe that the new OS may debut on either the Lumia 940 or Lumia 940 XL. The Lumia 940 XL may feature an octa-core Snapdragon 810 processor, 32GB of internal storage, 3GB of RAM, a 20-megapixel PureView camera, a 5-megapixel front shooter, and a microSD card slot. The Lumia 940, on the other hand, is said to have a 5.2-inch screen, 1080p Quad HD resolution, a hexa-core Snapdragon 808 processor and the same 20-megapixel rear camera and 5-megapixel front camera combo. No retail prices have been revealed yet for the two phablets.

GSM Arena provided the unofficial preliminary specifications of the Lumia 940 XL, which showed that the display will be an AMOLED capacitative touchscreen with 16M colors and protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 4 with ClearBlack display. The GPU will be the Adreno 430. The 20-megapixel shooter will also include Carl Zeiss optics, optical image stabilization, dual-LED flash and autofocus. The smartphone will have A-GPS and GLONASS, an FM radio, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and a microUSB v2.0. The device is also said to feature wireless charging and pack a Li-Ion 3,300 mAh battery. Available colors will include black, white, bright orange, bright green and gold.

The fall of 2015 seems to be the likely period to release the two smartphones and Windows 10 for Mobile. More news and details are expected from Microsoft in the following weeks.
