Kell Brook has shifted his focus on another fighter, Brandon Rios, for a possible match this coming September.

"I don't think we will get it and others have been mentioned. Kell Brook is more creditable than the names that have been mentioned and like I said Mayweather could have the chance of unifying the division, but I don't think it will happen” says Eddie Hearn in an interview with ESPN.

Brook was apparently holding out for a possible tiff with Floyd Mayweather Jr., the undefeated American boxer who claims that his September showdown will be his last boxing match before calling it quits.

Mayweather is looking to equalize the 49-0 record of Rocky Marciano against a yet to be named opponent.

The name that has been floating around is actually British boxer Amir Khan, though the flamboyant one did hint that he is choosing between Karim Mayfield and Andre Berto. Brook's name has not really been in the list of Mayweather’s possible opponents though he has been linked to a possible match with Amir Khan before.

As the month of June comes to a close, Brook's manager, Eddie Hearn, seems to have accepted the fact that his boy is potentially out of the running for a possible match with Mayweather. With that in mind, Brook and Hearn turn their focus on another American fighter, Brandon Rios.

Though both have yet to make it official, Brook will most likely defend his IBF welterweight belt against the 29-year-old boxer.

"We are going for Kell's next defence to be at the O2 Arena on another huge show there and it's looking like it will be against Brandon Rios."

Back in April, Rios mentioned that he is ready to fight Kell Brook in the UK. Rios responded after his name had been involved in the speculations back in March as a possible opponent for the IBF champ.

Brook came off a TKO win over Frank Gavin last month, on May 30, and has yet to taste defeat. Brook holds a 35-0-0 card, 24 coming via knockout.

Rios, on the other hand, last fought in January, winning also by TKO in the third round over Mike Alvarado. It was Rios second consecutive win after winning by disqualification over Diego Chaves on August 2, 2014.

Rios’ last loss came at the hands of Filipino boxer Manny Pacquiao in November 2013 via unanimous decision.

Rios is seriously interested in facing Brook and is waiting for an official contract for the said bout which will most likely be held at the O2 Arena.
