Actress Sandra Bullock recently shared her real reason for doing the “Minions” animated film.

BBC reported that Bullock’s last animated film project was 17 years ago, in the Dreamworks film “Prince of Egypt”.

The actress said that her five-year-old adopted son Louis was the main reason that she wanted to become a part of “Minions.”

“My son. I wanted to do something that he could see, that I was in.I've started telling him that I go and make stories, but he doesn't quite care what that's about - nor do I want him to,” Bullock said.

“Minions” is a spinoff prequel to the highly popular animated movies “Despicable Me” and “Despicable Me 2”. The upcoming movie focuses on the cute yellow creatures that have been serving evil masters since the beginning of time. They have worked for dinosaurs, vampires and other despicable characters over the centuries but tend to be prone to accidents, which explain why they cannot hold their job for too long.

The minions ultimately end up without a master, so one of them, Kevin, planned to look for a new one. Together with Stuart and Bob, the three minions visit a villain convention where they meet Scarlet Overkill, played by Bullock, who is the very first female supervillain in the world. The Guardian reported that Overkill will try to steal the British crown from Queen Elizabeth II.

Bullock, who frequently played protagonist roles in many of her films, talked about taking the opposite side for a change.

“As an actor, being a villain is a great thing. Everyone wants to be able to do that. And we're human beings - we're crabby - so to be able to be mean the entire time you're working? It's a great release. It was one of the harder things I've done. Every day was different and every day was a struggle,” she said.

Pierre Coffin will direct as well as voice all the minions in the movie. Coffin said that he is not in any way an actor but he will attempt to differentiate and identify the three minions Kevin, Bob and Stuart. He will try to find the right melody for the current emotional state of the character and find the right words that sound funny in the tone. The minions speak “Minion-ese”, which is actually a mixture of various languages around the world, based on the same BBC report.
