There are rumors that a new actor might take on the role of Tony Stark in the next installment of “Iron Man.”
Crossmap reported that there were previous talks that 13-year-old Ty Simpkins, who eventually appeared as Stark’s sidekick, Harley Keener, in “Iron Man 3”, will become Tony Stark in Iron Man 4.
During an interview with Variety, Roberty Downey Jr., who played Stark in all three movies, said that there is currently no plan to make a fourth “Iron Man” film. Downey previously signed with Disney and Marvel for two sequels of “Avengers”, which will launch in 2015 and 2018. However, he has been hesitant to take on any more superhero roles.
He also laughed about the idea that someone else would play Tony Stark in a possible next installment. “I like that the idea is that it would be up to me, like I’m casting director for Marvel,” he said.
“Don’t give it to anybody else,” Robert Duvall, his costar in the film “Judge” said.
Crossmap stated that Downey reportedly requested for a raise from Marvel Studios but negotiations seemed to have halted since then. The actor reportedly received $50 million for each Marvel film he appeared in, Vine Report wrote. He will still be appearing as Tony Stark in “Captain America: Civil War”, “Avengers: Infinity War Part 1” and “Avengers: Infinity War Part 2”.
the third installment of “Captain America” will launch in 2016, while the “Infinity War” installments will launch in 2018 and 2019, respectively. Because of the various films that Downey has already committed to in the next few years, he may not return as Iron Man in a fourth installment soon. There are rumors that he may return in “Iron Man 4” after the third phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe or if Marvel Studios agrees to his new pay rate.
Master Herald reported that a number of film analysts believe that Marvel Studios may be more concerned about the timing of “Iron Man 4”, rather than paying Downey more. “Iron Man 3” became the 7th all-time top grossing film after raking in $1.22 billion at the worldwide box office. Marvel may be eyeing on introducing other characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe first to avoid oversaturating fans with so many “Iron Man” movies. Iron Man will continue to be present in upcoming Marvel films, which makes it more sensible to delay any more standalone films for the character.
