Hannibal will be showing its final season at NBC. As we slurp the last few episodes before we have our last meal with the show, here are some things you should know:
Mads Mikkelsen and Hugh Dancy have already worked together prior to Hannibal.
Mikkelsen (Hannibal) and Dancy (Will Graham) starred together in King Arthur so it is not new to them to be working together. No wonder we see the brooding work chemistry of the two. In fact, it was Hugh Dancy who recommended Mads Mikkelsen for the role of Hannibal.
The first season episode titles are actually French meal courses.
Very clever, indeed. The episode titles are as follows:
1- Apéritif
2- Amuse-Bouche
3- Potage
4- Œuf
5- Coquilles
6- Entrée
7- Sorbet
8- Fromage
9- Trou Normand
10- Buffet Froid
11- Rôti
12- Relevés
13- Savoureux
To top it off, second season titles are Japanese meal courses:
1- Kaiseki
2- Sakizuke
3- Hassun
4- Takiawase
5- Mukōzuke
6- Futamono
7- Yakimono
8- Su-zakana
9- Shiizakana
10- Naka-choko
11- Kō No Mono
12- Tome-wan
13- Mizumono
And now, you are wondering what the last season meal titles would be? Our source tells us it's all Italian. Scrumptious!
Laurence Fishburne who plays Special Agent-in-Charge Jack Crawford and on-screen wife Gina Torres are actually a couple in real life.
They are a good match, on an off screen! Enough said.
Lee Pace was supposed to portray Will Graham
Hugh Dancy was not Fuller's choice for Will Graham. It was Lee Pace of "Pushing Daisies" who was supposed to be Fuller's choice but it landed on Dancy instead. We wouldn't know if the former pushed through but we are happy with the latter choice.
The show actually has a food stylist!
As grotesque as the cannibal meals are, you would not be surprised why Hannibal still eats it with gusto. Of course, the show wouldn't be that successful without the artistic layout of the meals that are depicted as body parts. The show has its own stylist by the name of Janice Poon who is based from Toronto. What Hannibal is eating are actually just food substitutes that resemble the real thing. Janice keeps a blog called Feeding Hannibal to account all her food styling adventures in the show.
So with the last ten episodes, we slowly say goodbye to the grotesque yet gorgeous, the beautiful yet beastly. While the show is disturbingly uncomfortable, it is impossible to look away. Like everyone else who is hooked to the show, we are drawn to the dark void of the world of Hannibal. The gory aesthetic of the show deserves to continue and with hope, it might, but on another network. This tweet fuels up our hope:
Second, we are exploring other options for future seasons. #Hannibal
