See How New Driving Technology from Samsung May Just Save Your Life

Samsung has just come out with technology that may make passing large semis on the road easier and safer, by making the truck virtually disappear.

Trying to see if the coast is clear in front of a truck you're trying to pass is always challenging, and can often be deadly. Samsung's new "Safety Truck", however, hopes to change all of that. The system uses a wireless camera that is mounted on the truck's front grille. The camera displays an image on the back of the truck, enabling drivers trailing the semi to actually see the roadway ahead.

Samsung chose to test out the Safety Truck in Argentina, which boasts some of the highest traffic accidents in the world due to its many two-lane roads. Many of the reported accidents are due to situations of overtaking.

And how did the Safety Truck fair?

"So far Samsung has been able to confirm that the technology works and that this idea can definitely save the lives of many people," spokespersons from Samsung say.

"The next step is to perform the corresponding tests in order to comply with the existing national protocols and obtain the necessary permits and approvals. For this, Samsung is working together with safe driving NGOs and the government."

Although the display may seem confusing at first to some drivers, Samsung is confident the technology would catch on and that it would save lives in the process.
