The next phablet rumored to be rolling out of Samsung's doors had been anticipated to feature the South Korean tech giant's innovative dual curved edge display. Some observers have speculated that the said feature may become a defining one for many, if not all, of its mobile products in order to give the devices an edge in the highly competitive mobile gadget market.

However, a recent report hinted that Galaxy Note 5 may not have those clever curved edges found on the Galaxy S6 Edge.

"Samsung will not produce a sequel to the Note 4 Edge, but will instead launch the rumored Galaxy S6 Plus alongside the Note 5," Digital Trends said. "Samsung may announce the Note 5 in August, ready for a September launch."

With that being said, it appears Samsung is not open to making the Edge feature a defining mark for all its mobile products, perhaps to avoid saturation or making it seem like just another innovation. The selective inclusion of the Edge display helps maintain its innovative hubris, so it also seems.

Previously, the Note 5 has been expected to appear at the 2015 IFA in Berlin this September. While that may still be a feasible conjecture, it would appear that no new Note Edge will be unveiled alongside the Note 5.

"The Samsung galaxy Note 5 is expected to have a 5.89-inch 2560 x 1440p SAMOLED display, a Exynos 7422 processor and a massive 4,100mAh battery," iDigitalTimes recalled. "Despite the beefy specs, the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 should still be slim at 7.9mm."

The device should also have Android 5.1.1 Lollipop and come with an S-Pen, unlike the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Plus," the tech news portal added.

Further, Patently Mobile speculated that the Note 5 stylus may probably be encapsulated in a new innovation - voice or gesture-activated ejection. This is due to a recently found Samsung patent that shows a device similar to the Note capable of auto-ejecting a stylus via a voice command or a gesture.

Will Samsung include that in the new Note version? That remains to be seen.

As previously mentioned, Samsung will reportedly be releasing a Galaxy SG Edge Plus, which will be equipped with the Snapdragon 808 CPU. It can be recalled that the S6 and S6 Edge had the company's proprietary Exynos 7420 CPU, making the shift back to Snapdragon a curious one.

"Returning to an external supplier for this key component will drive up the build cost of the S6 Edge Plus, but it's worth noting that the S6 family was the first time Samsung had supplied handsets with the Exynos system outside of its home territory in any significant volume," Forbes' Ewan Spence commented.
