When TV shows are abound with male superheroes, it is but a breath of fresh air to note that there is a girl superhero in our midst.

Supergirl is created by the same producer who created Arrow and The Flash-Greg Berlanti. The cast is also familiar, coming from different TV series themselves. The main character, our Supergirl, is Melissa Benoist. You may have recognized her from Glee. Also from a musical show "Smash" Jeremy Jordan plays "Winn", Kara's co-worker, who in the pilot seems to have a secret crush on Kara. Daily planet's former photographer and Superman's friend, James Olsen, is played by Mehcad Brooks from True Blood. Meredith Grey's little sister, Lexie Grey of Grey's anatomy, Chyler Leigh, now plays Kara's older foster sister, Alex. And of course, Calista Flockhart is a gem in the show, as she plays the annoyingly perfect boss of Kara, Cat Grant.

With Supergirl, why would every girl want to be a Superhero?

Supergirl has the powers of Superman!

Why should there be Supergirl in a world where there is Superman? To show to the world that girls can be superheroes, too.

As shown in the pilot episode of Supergirl, it gives good feminine thrill to see a girl lift off a whole plane on fire full of people then direct it to the sea and emerge from the waters as glamorous as ever. Superman will never have that elegance.

And while we acknowledge girl power, Kara has a fandom towards her cousin, Kal-el aka Superman, which really doesn't take the spotlight off the main superhero.

Melissa Benoist should play the role well

Melissa playing the role of Kara is amazingly appealing, even in her weak moments. She is beautiful, giggles like a girl but is strong-willed and sticks to her principles. And it's really bad-ass when she storms into the lair of the bad guys and just dodges off bullets. Plus the visual effects are plain awesome!

Supergirl's Costume

Saving people in an awesome short skirt and the blouse with an S marked on it plus the flowing cape may become a fashion trend! Just a tad disappointed, though, that there are no exposed legs. It would have been an awesome addition to the ensemble.

Calista Flockhart as Cat Grant

As said, Calista Flockhart is a gem in this show. Her portrayal as Cat Grant is pure perfection. Cat Grant's antics aside from her bossy attitude screams femme in all aspects. Don't we just love looking at her? And the quips, Ms. Flockhart, hats off to your character:

"Besides from fatty foods, there is nothing people love more than a hero."

"Kara, if you can't take credit when you did something well, you are going to be at the bottom of the pile forever. But Mazel Tov, you bought yourself another day".

"I'm sorry darling but I can't hear you over the loud color of your cheap pants".

Are you ready for SuperGirl? Put on your capes and ditch those eyeglasses. It airs Mondays at 8pm on CBS starting November 2015.
