With Halo 4 recently released for the Xbox 360 to strong reviews, people are already inquiring for the following two installments in the new trilogy.

News has already broken about Halo 5, the next episode in the 343 Industries' Halo trilogy. According to Gaming Blend, the title will appear on Microsoft's next generation console codenamed Xbox 720.

"We've done as much prototyping and storytelling and the future arc of the universe as we have on technology," said Halo 4 director Frank O'Connor. "So we're definitely working on the future but in some ways it's technologically agnostic at this point."

He added, "We definitely have a lot of smart people inside the studio and outside the studio thinking about future technology and future development for sure."

O'Connor's statement speaks to the mystery surrounding Microsoft's next console which has been rumored to have a controller that can be placed on gamers' arms for precise movements. A protoype for this controller was showcased a few weeks ago, but there is no confirmation on whether this is the Xbox 720 controller.

Halo 4 was released on November 4th to starling reviews. 1Up gave the title an A- and praised the multi-player and the new gameplay mechanics.

IGN claimed the title was impeccably paced and that the multi-player was better than ever. Ars Technica thought the campaign was short, but called the title the best Halo to date.

This new trilogy has been called the "Reclaimer Trilogy" and 343 Industries has stated that their hope is to make the trilogy darker and grittier. Halo 5 is supposed to be a darker installment than the tragic Halo 4.
